The basics:
- visual reference
- he is a native of the first!
- born in twine to a ronso couple who worked as miners
- when he was very young, the mining operations disturbed a sin eater nest and the whole town was overrun. his father died in the attack and his mother was badly wounded
- unable to work due to her injury, his mother took him and moved to the crystarium. this is basically where he grew up, he doesn't remember much of his life in twine.
- his mother was scarcely able to leave home. she was often in pain and only found joy in tending the little pots of flowers outside their window and reading stories to rorik
- the books that captured rorik's attention the most were the few stories still remaining of voeburt and the knights that served the royal family there.
- this spurred him to join the guard as soon as he was old enough, and he learned how to wield a sword and shield as well as some magic here and there
- he served in the guard for a good few decades, calling the crystarium home even long after his mother passed away.
- inherited his mother's love of flowers and his weapons bear paintings/engravings of them. this, combined with his inspiration for fighting, earned him the nickname "knight of blossoms"
- when he entered his 40's, he decided to quietly retire from the guard proper and moved to the small settlement of holminster switch, where he could cultivate his garden and help protect the people of the town from sin eaters
- when holminster was overrun by sin eaters and a light warden, he did his best to see as many people to safety as he could, but many townsfolk perished and he carries a lot of guilt over it.
- in the aftermath of the invasion, he took to traveling for a while to clear his head and pick off whatever sin eaters he could find
- in his travels, he encountered two young men, former crystarium guards who now called themselves "warriors of light". after hearing their story, he returned to the crystarium to once again offer his services to the guard while the young ones ran around and played hero.
- currently 45 years old.
all-in-all, rorik is a gentle soul with a fondness for sweets and flowers. he just wants to see everyone around him safe.
